Hydraulic Services
Investigation Design Planning Supervision

Ian Bird, possibly the longest established and best known hydraulic services consultant in Canberra (I.T. Bird & Associates), was an original partner of AEC, giving the firm a strong hydraulics background from the beginning.

The hydraulics design arm of the firm was further expanded in 1993 with the incorporation of P.T. Ritchie and Associates into the group. Peter Ritchie became the principle for hydraulic services on Ian Bird's retirement, continuing AEC's strong reputation and involvement in the field.

Projects

Investigations - AEC carries out investigations on in-ground sewer, stormwater and reticulations including CCTV surveys and location surveys. We can provide detailed reports and cost estimating services.

Reticulation & Infrastructure - Sewerage, drainage and water supply for multiple developments or single site projects. Providing services such as trade waste treatment and stormwater detention systems.

Building Services - AEC has designed and superintended stormwater, sanitary and plumbing services to projects over many years.

Industrial Projects - The specialised requirements of waste retention, treatment and disposal makes this type of project ideal for the design capabilities of AEC. Projects as varied as a major feed lot and abattoir complex in the Riverine to Buckman's Chemicals production plant and CSR Emoleum site in Queanbeyan, N.S.W. have been designed and expedited.

Design/Construct

Whilst AEC is primarily an engineering consulting practice, we can offer design and construction packages for suitable projects through our joint venture 'AEC Fleming'. The joint venture incorporates the design and engineering management facilities of AEC combined with on-site contracting capabilities provided by I.C.G. Fleming of Wagga Wagga, N.S.W.

Many industrial or specialised projects have been carried out by the joint venture firm. AEC remains committed to its core role as an engineering consultant and does not intend to compete with hydraulic contractors. Design/construct services are normally restricted to specific projects which may be outside the experience of contractors or where a particular value-added potential exists by using this delivery method.
